The Origin
Crescent was founded by Grant Roscoe in Lincoln, Nebraska. A self-made entrepreneur who started building companies at 13 and launched his first fintech venture while still in high school at 17.
After years of building financial software, Grant and his team noticed something: nonprofits kept finding their way to Crescent, and they had needs that no one was truly serving. Traditional banks were not built for them. The finance tools nonprofits were using, cobbled together from products designed for corporations, created unnecessary friction, drained time, and left money on the table. Nonprofits deserved better infrastructure.
So Crescent did something most fintech companies won’t: went all in on nonprofits.
Today, every product Crescent Cares builds, every hire made, and every dollar spent is directed at one goal: becoming the most-loved financial platform for nonprofits in the world.
A Personal Mission
For Grant, Crescent Cares carries a deeper meaning. Growing up in Lincoln, his father was a firefighter and paramedic for 28 years, a man who lived a life of quiet service.
Crescent had to stand for more than growth alone. We had to use the platform we had built to help the people and organizations who spend their lives helping others.

We Put Our Money Where Our Mission Is
Crescent Cares donates 1 basis point (0.01%) annually of total client deposits back to the nonprofits we serve after their first year with us, funded entirely from our own revenue. No cap. This is not a product feature. It is a reflection of a fundamental belief: when you grow, so do we. That’s the alignment we wanted to build from day one.
Meet our experienced team
Grant has been an entrepreneur since age 13, when he began building e-commerce businesses. By 20, he had been invited to speak about fintech innovation in eight countries, including at the World Economic Forum in Davos. With a lifelong passion for technology and finance, Grant leads Crescent's vision and strategy and its mission to build better financial technology for nonprofits through Crescent Cares. He has assembled an exceptional team of industry leaders, investors, and partners.
Former CEO and President of Amalgamated Bank, the socially responsible bank for nonprofits, where he grew deposits from approximately $3B to more than $8B, built deep relationships across the nonprofit sector, and led the bank through its public offering. At Crescent, Keith brings decades of experience across banking, nonprofit finance, and mission-driven organizations to help shape our strategy and deepen our work with nonprofits nationwide. He is doing everything at Crescent he wishes could’ve existed at the bank.
Kathryn got her start in her career at Firespring and The Nonprofit Hub, serving the nonprofit sector. As a Creative Strategist at a leading creative agency, she worked with clients including Spotify, Adidas, and Yeti. She currently leads operations at Crescent helping serve nonprofit growth clients, growth, partnerships, and the team. Kathryn’s cross-functional expertise drives Crescent’s rapid growth and brand evolution.
Over 15 years of nonprofit experience, including nearly 10 years helping scale Classy from 1,000 to 10,000+ nonprofits, $5B+ in fundraising, and scaling giving globally. He joined Crescent to help build the world’s most impactful financial operating system.
Rebecca brings 25+ years of experience spanning consulting, financial services, nonprofit management, and software sales — a background that gives her a rare, ground-level understanding of how nonprofit finance teams actually operate. Most recently, she worked with some of the largest nonprofits in the country on the software side, helping them streamline back-office operations and strengthen their financial infrastructure. Rebecca is passionate about the nonprofit sector and the professionals who keep it running, and she's dedicated to helping finance teams unlock resources they didn't know they had — so they can spend less time managing constraints and more time advancing their mission.

Hugo brings over 10 years of experience helping some of the fastest-growing fintechs grow even faster, and scale their impact. Passionate about scaling Crescent into the nation’s leading nonprofit finance platform, he is helping lead our growth and marketing efforts nationwide.

10+ years in fintech sales, GTM, and leadership, former #1 sales rep at Plaid ($8B+) and Unit ($1B+), closed $12M+ ARR herself, and previously at Goldman Sachs and BlackRock. Helping recruit, train, and scale the core sales team.
Over 20 years of nonprofit experience, including Chief External Relations Officer at Martha’s Table, Executive Director at Horning Family Foundation, and most recently helping coach, advise, and facilitate with leading grantmakers and nonprofits. After 10+ years in wealth management and financial advisory, Stephanie established the Grand Rapids chapter of Once Upon a Room, a 27 chapter-and-counting nonprofit organization helping makeover children’s hospital rooms for sick children.
Former CFO/COO at a $400M+ asset nonprofit, and now serves 30+ nonprofits including $1B+ in total assets, across organizations nationwide. Larry is passionate about helping drive Crescent’s product, strategy, and impact to nonprofits across the financial operating system.
Former Founder and CEO of Classy, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit software and fundraising platforms, which grew to serve 10,000+ nonprofits and $5B+ in fundraising, before combining with GoFundMe in 2022, becoming GoFundMe Pro. Scot is actively advising Crescent, and believes in our mission building the core infrastructure for nonprofit finance.
