The Origin

Crescent was founded by Grant Roscoe in Lincoln, Nebraska. A self-made entrepreneur who started building companies at 13 and launched his first fintech venture while still in high school at 17.

After years of building financial software, Grant and his team noticed something: nonprofits kept finding their way to Crescent, and they had needs that no one was truly serving. Traditional banks were not built for them. The finance tools nonprofits were using, cobbled together from products designed for corporations, created unnecessary friction, drained time, and left money on the table. Nonprofits deserved better infrastructure.

So Crescent did something most fintech companies won’t: went all in on nonprofits.

Today, every product Crescent Cares builds, every hire made, and every dollar spent is directed at one goal: becoming the most-loved financial platform for nonprofits in the world.

A Personal Mission

For Grant, Crescent Cares carries a deeper meaning. Growing up in Lincoln, his father was a firefighter and paramedic for 28 years, a man who lived a life of quiet service.

Crescent had to stand for more than growth alone. We had to use the platform we had built to help the people and organizations who spend their lives helping others.

From first responders to food security organizations, from environmental nonprofits to institutions investing in future leaders, these are the organizations quietly moving the world forward and making it a better place.

When nonprofits earn more and save time through Crescent Cares, those gains compound into mission: more meals, more relief, more opportunity, more lives touched.

What We’ve Built

Banking built for nonprofits

High-yield checking, sub-accounts for grant funds, program tracking, and fiscal sponsorship. Our platform is built from scratch, not adapted from corporate tools.

One platform, not a patchwork

Banking, payments, cards, bill pay, and reporting in one place. No more duct-taping tools that were never meant for nonprofits.

In-house engineering

Our roadmap is driven by signal, not intuition: frequency of the problem, severity of the impact, and build complexity. The features that hit all three move first. Legacy banks can’t do that. We can.

Compliance you can trust

Our in-house compliance team is led by Ron DiGiacomo, former CCO at JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. He brings 30+ years of experience, so you can operate with confidence.

What We’re Building Next

Investment accounts

Reserve funds shouldn’t sit idle. We’re building investment options so nonprofits can put long-term capital to work, without leaving the platform.

Coming Soon

Donations portal

Inbound giving, tracked and managed in the same place as your banking and payments. No more juggling separate tools for donations.

We Put Our Money Where Our Mission Is

Crescent Cares donates 1 basis point (0.01%) annually of total client deposits back to the nonprofits we serve after their first year with us, funded entirely from our own revenue. No cap. This is not a product feature. It is a reflection of a fundamental belief: when you grow, so do we. That’s the alignment we wanted to build from day one.
